Return to your senses for bodyworkers Do some of your clients need help to work with post traumatic issues in their tissues? Trauma overwhelms sensory perception. It scrambles the brain’s memory-making ability and it impairs communication. Specialized communication and contact are among the skills that make body-centered trauma care safer and more effective for clients and practitioners. Any event that overwhelms the ordinary human capacity to cope can be traumatic. Even after the event seems forgotten, the body remembers. Did you know that accidents, illness, abuse, war and natural disasters make trauma our greatest public health issue? Subconsciously, trauma affects how people live, and that affects the lives of those with whom they interact. You will learn to be present, to protect yourself, to help clients re-embody when flashes pull them into the past. Embodied people often connect with their joy, humor and spontaneity, so we will explore ways to engage those latent expressions. Return to Your Senses Level 1 - for bodyworkers
